Wade Steffey Memorial Fund Silent Auction Begins on March 26

Bloomington, IN - March 17, 2007 - Come to the Waldron Arts Center from March 26-31, 2007 to bid on fabulous art for a good cause. A silent art auction to benefit a Wade Steffey memorial fund will begin with an opening reception from 5:30pm to 7:00pm at the Waldron on Monday, March 26. Live music will be provided by the O2R Blues Band at the reception.

Wade Steffey is the Bloomington 19-year old who had been missing from Purdue University since January 13. His parents, Dawn Adams and Dale Steffey, are two longtime Bloomington artists. They are active members of the local art community and are on the organizing committee of the Fourth Street Arts Festival.

The auction, organized by many local artists, is being hosted in partnership with the Bloomington Area Arts Council. Executive Director Miah Michaelsen said the arts council welcomes the opportunity to support this effort: "It's such a testament to the giving spirit of the arts community how people have come together for Wade and Dawn. We wanted to support that the best way we could - by donating our space and staff time, and we encourage others to participate as well."

Artwork that will be available for bidding on at the silent auction includes photography, paintings, ceramics, jewelry, and fiber arts by Kris Busch, Martina Celerin, Lee Cohn, Peg Eiya, David Goodrum, Bonnie Gordon-Lucas, Sarah Hatch, Lance and Vicki Munn, Cappi Phillips, Reza Pishgahi, Tim Terry and over 80 other artists. Indiana artists from Bloomington, Lafayette, and Indianapolis have donated to the auction, as well as artists from Utah, Michigan, Pennsylvania, Florida, and Scotland. It's looking to be one of the biggest art auctions in Bloomington.

If you are an artist who would like to donate artwork to the auction, please contact Cappi Phillips at 812-334-2992 or cappi@moesache.com Artwork should be delivered to the John Waldron Arts Center on Saturday, March 24 between the hours of 11 a.m. and 3 p.m.
